We work out what your business needs. That part is free.
Most software conversations start with a product looking for a fit. This one starts with your business.
We talk to you. We listen to how the work actually runs — not the org chart, the work. We bring twenty-five years of building business systems to what we hear, and together we arrive at what your company would gain the most from having. None of that costs anything.
Then we build it out of the platform, and you pay a fixed monthly price for what it weighs.
Five steps, and the price starts at the fourth
- 1Step 1
We talk
- What happens
- You describe how the company works: what you sell, how it gets delivered, where the work stalls and what everybody has learned to live with.
- Who does it
- You and us. A discovery agent takes the first pass and writes down what it hears as a model; a person picks it up as soon as there is something to decide.
What it costsNothing. - 2Step 2
We analyse
- What happens
- We take what you told us and read it as a system: the things you work with, how they relate, who may see what, and which of your problems are actually the same problem.
- Who does it
- Us. This is the part you are hiring a consultancy for everywhere else.
What it costsNothing. - 3Step 3
We agree what to build
- What happens
- Not a wishlist. The one or two things the business would gain the most from having, in the order that makes each one easier than the last.
- Who does it
- You decide. We say what we think and why.
What it costsNothing. - 4Step 4
We build it
- What happens
- Assembled from capabilities the platform already has, fitted to how you work rather than the other way round. What is genuinely specific to you gets built; what is not, is not built again.
- Who does it
- Us.
What it costsThe monthly price starts when it goes live, not when we start. - 5Step 5
You run it, and change it
- What happens
- It is in production and it keeps moving with the business. Add a capability, drop one, or call us and think it through first.
- Who does it
- You, with us alongside.
What it costsA fixed monthly price for what the system weighs.
The thinking is free. The system is what you pay for.
This is not a free trial with a clock on it, and it is not an unpaid sales call dressed up as advice. The work of understanding your business and deciding what should exist is genuinely ours to do at our own cost.
We can make that offer for one reason: the building is no longer the expensive part. When a system is assembled from capabilities that already exist, the scarce thing is knowing which ones, in what shape, for this company. So that is the part we lead with — and the part you keep, whether or not you decide to build anything.
- The conversations
- The analysis of how you work
- The recommendation, including the parts that say do nothing
- The model of your business we write along the way
- The system, once it is live
- Every capability it runs, priced by what it weighs
- Hosting, operation, security and every platform improvement, included in that
There is no separate build fee, no implementation project to buy and no license per person. The monthly price is the price.
You pay for what the system weighs
Every capability in the platform carries a build weight, measured in dbits. Your system's weight is the sum of the ones you actually run, and your monthly price is that weight at the unit price.
The unit price is the same for every customer. It moves with inflation and currency, and with nothing else — not with your size, not with how much you need it, and not with what we think you would pay.
- $1.07/mo
- Per dbit
- The same figure for every customer, whatever they run.
- 2026-07-01
- In effect since
- When the current unit price took over.
- 2027-01-01
- Next review
- It holds until then, and the history is public.
Change your mind whenever the business does
A system that costs the same whatever it contains teaches you to ask for everything up front, just in case. Weight-based pricing does the opposite: you take what you need now, because taking more later is a decision you get to make later.
You can do it yourself, and you can do it with us. Both work, and neither is the lesser way.
- Tick a capability on, or off, in your own workspace — the weight and the monthly price move with it
- Or call us, mail us, or raise it in the system, and we will think it through with you first
- Nothing waits for a renewal date, because there is no term to renew — the subscription is monthly and ends on 30 days’ notice
Our expertise is included, not billed
For as long as you are a customer, the thinking stays free. Not a support line for when something breaks — the same conversation that got you here, whenever the business raises a new question.
That is the point of the model rather than a perk inside it. A vendor who bills for advice has a reason to keep you asking; a vendor who does not has a reason to make sure the answer is right the first time.
What people ask before they say yes
What is the catch with the free part?
There is a commercial logic and it is worth stating rather than hiding: we do the thinking at our own cost because a company that has thought clearly about what it needs is a company we can build something good for, and because building it is no longer expensive enough to need a project fee in front of it.
If we conclude that you should not build anything, we will say so, and that conversation cost you nothing either.
What if we already know what we want?
Then the first three steps are short. We will still want to understand the work behind the request, because the most common thing we find is that the requested system and the actual problem are one step apart.
Who owns what gets built?
You do — the workflows, the rules, the automations, the code, the integrations, the configuration and the data. That is a longer answer than it looks, and it has its own page.
What happens if we want to leave?
There is no binding period to get out of. The subscription runs month to month and ends 30 days after you say so, whichever month you say it in.
You take the system with you. Not an export of your records: the system, and everything in it that is specific to your business.
Do we need to know what a dbit is to buy this?
No. It matters when you want to check the arithmetic, and the pricing page shows the unit price, the history of it and what any given system comes to. Before that, the number you care about is the monthly one.
Tell us how the work actually runs
The first conversation is the offer. Everything after it follows from what we find in it.
